Greater Manchester Police is investing a further £2.6m in body worn video hardware as a result of its new contract with Axon.

In a refresh of its body worn video capability, the scope of the contract includes the delivery of a mix of cameras and ancillaries such as docking stations and any connection requirements to enable a device to be attached to a uniform. The potential to incorporate a live streaming service may be added at a later date. The award stated that it is expected that no extended warranties will be taken.

The force received its first Axon body cameras in 2016, having ordered over 3,000 units in late 2015.

The contract is Direct Award using Regulation 32 of the Public Sector Procurements Act 2015 The duration is 12 months, with an option for a further 12 month extension. Full details of the award, published in December, can be found on Contracts Finder.
