Voice of the protective equipment industry hits 30 year milestone

Representing the safety and personal protective industry, the British Safety Industry Federation goes from strength to strength with nearly 400 members, expanding its influence to ensure it remains at the forefront of developments into its fourth decade.

Trade associations are a key way for members from the entire supply chain including manufacturers, importers, distributors of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety products. to come together to elevate the voice and views of the industry. Working with members and other organisations, the BSIF gets involved with the development of guidance, policy and legislation associated with personal protective equipment (PPE), safety equipment and allied services.

Within the fire and rescue sector, BSIF contributes to the PPE-focused work of the National FIre Chiefs Council. The PPE/Clothing Committee is a relatively new operational committee that works through a regional network of fire and rescue service representatives and national accredited organisations, including the Fire Brigades Union, Fire Officers’ Association, Asian Fire Service Association and Women in the Fire Service.

Building on this important collaboration, BSIF is a member of the Industry Supplier group where organisations including the Fire Industry Association and the Fire Sector Federation gather to discuss industry issues and provide important industry views to the PPE committee. John Cairns. represents BSIF, bringing five decades of fire and PPE experience with him.

As we mark our 30th anniversary, we continue to support the industry and promote our core message to support all those keeping people safe and healthy at work and reaffirm that health and safety is a positive force for good.
