How to utilise artificial smoke machines to simulate heavy smoke effects for training

We have now learned how to utilise artificial smoke machines to simulate heavy smoke effects for training purposes.

Artificial smoke machines and smoke generators are safe and effective tools used for simulating the danger and confusion of a real fire. When you incorporate training smoke into regular training drills, it allows firefighters, first responders and others to improve efficiency as well as minimising panic and avoiding disorientation so they can focus on making rescues and fighting fires.

What is a smoke machine?

Smoke machines are devices that essentially use a type of heat exchanger in different forms and different sizes depending on the desired output of smoke utilising onboard controls. A hard-wired remote control can be triggered either at the machine or in most cases up to 5m away.

To generate artificial smoke effects projected into the desired area, it burns liquid at a precise temperature in effect turning this into a simulated fog.

Haze Technical Solutions is the UK Distributor of the Trainer Range which uses a water-based, UK-manufactured liquid which is made up of professionally purified water and different mixes of food grade non-toxic glycol to achieve the desired effect.

Lincolnshire Fire Service and the Fire Training Academy have praised the equipment, using it for training activities across the region.

Similar uses can be seen with hotels utilising artificial smoke to test emergency procedures, ensuring ventilation stops are working as specified to stop the spread of fire.
