Mobile electronic patient records for ambulances deliver efficient care on the frontline

In the dynamic and high-pressure environment of emergency services, every second counts. The ability to access critical patient information swiftly and efficiently can mean the difference between life and death. This is where the significance of mobile Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems for ambulances, comes into play.

OneResponse by Dedalus, is a mobile EPR system, designed specifically for ambulance services in the UK, that enables paramedics to access and enter critical patient data on the go.

Traditionally, emergency medical professionals relied on paper-based records or outdated systems to document patient information. However, with the introduction of Dedalus’ OneResponse mobile EPR system, the landscape of ambulance services has been transformed. The innovative system allows paramedics and emergency medical technicians to access real-time patient data, including medical histories, allergies, medications and treatment protocols, at their fingertips.

The mobility of OneResponse enables ambulance crews to provide timely and accurate care to patients, even in the most challenging situations. By having instant access to vital information, medical professionals can make informed decisions quickly, leading to improved patient outcomes and enhanced quality of care.

OneResponse streamlines communication between ambulance crews, hospitals and other healthcare providers. This seamless exchange of information ensures continuity of care and facilitates a coordinated response to emergencies, revolutionising the way North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) handles patient information.

Since June 2023, OneResponse has provided real-time access to almost 3 million critical patient data records across more than 4,000 devices, empowering emergency medical personnel to deliver efficient, effective, and life-saving care to patients in critical situations.

In January, Dedalus was awarded ‘Frontline Digitisation Project of the Year’ at the Health Tech Newspaper (HTN) Awards, for its innovative collaboration with NWAS and development of the OneResponse mobile EPR system.

The HTN Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in healthcare technology, honouring organisations that have made significant advancements in improving patient care and streamlining healthcare processes. Dedalus’ OneResponse stood out among the competition for its transformative collaboration with NWAS.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition for our OneResponse mobile EPR. “This recognition is a testament to our commitment to developing innovative technology that empowers healthcare providers and improves patient outcomes. We are proud to support ambulance services in their mission to deliver high-quality care in emergency situations.”

Daryll Goodall, General Manager, Dedalus UK and Ireland.

The OneResponse user-friendly interface and seamless integration with existing systems have garnered further praise from healthcare professionals across the industry. Following its award-winning success in January, OneResponse was a finalist at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Digital Awards, in June.

The nomination for ‘Improving out of Hospital Care through Digital’ at the HSJ Digital Awards, recognised the collaboration between Dedalus and NWAS for ‘EPR migration from Windows to Progressive Web-App’.

As a global provider of healthcare technology solutions, Dedalus is leading the way in healthcare technology, driving innovation and improving patient care across the world. The company’s commitment to excellence and its groundbreaking solutions have solidified its position as a trusted partner to the NHS for over 40 years.

“The award represents the hard work carried out to build a hugely positive relationship between Dedalus and North West Ambulance Service, synthesising technical, operational and clinical expertise. This collaboration resulted in the delivery of an EPR that is intuitive to use, using features to maximise patient safety and clinical quality, and in turn facilitates our clinicians to meet the individual needs of our patients.”

Michael Windever, Advanced Paramedic – EPR Clinical Lead, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
