West Midlands Fire Service has again recorded its lowest gender pay gap since records started in 2017. And Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service has received a £2m investment to fund an upgraded fire control system.

West Midlands Fire Service records lowest gender pay gap since 2017

West Midlands Fire Service has again recorded its lowest gender pay gap since records started in 2017. As of 31 March 2024, it stood at 5.5 per cent – down from 6.1 per cent a year ago. More via Emergency Services Times

Northumberland fire service receives £2m investment

Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service (NFRS) has received a £2m investment to fund an upgraded fire control system, which will be shared between Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS). More via Hexham Courant

Donation supports new volunteer responder team in Knighton

New funding provided by Knighton Hospital and Community League of Friends will help St John Ambulance Cymru volunteers in Powys set-up a new Volunteer Alternative Responder Team in the Knighton community, funding essential vehicles and medical equipment. More via Brecon & Radnor Express

On-call firefighters awarded Chief Fire Officer Commendations

Two on-call firefighters from Tiptree Fire Station have been awarded Chief Fire Officer Commendations for their exemplary actions after they saved the life of a man who had been stabbed.

Following the incident, the Tiptree crews have been working closely with anti-knife crime campaigner, Julie Taylor, from the Liam Taylor Legacy. More via Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
