South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) has recently received a donation of £1,500 to the South Central Ambulance Charity from Barratt and David Wilson Homes to fund new training equipment.

Among the brand new equipment sourced was a birthing simulator, a child CPR manikin, practice arms and training bones to simulate a range of medical procedures, as well as injection training pads and a series of anatomical poster sets.

“We are very grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for their generous donation to the SCAS Charity. This funding has enabled us to purchase a number of items for our clinical training suite within Oxfordshire.”

“This equipment enables our staff and students to gain in confidence, support further training and garner new knowledge with specific skills and interventions in an environment that facilitates a safe learning space. In turn, this allows us to provide high quality patient care to our local community and the wider SCAS operational area.”

Angus McCulloch, paramedic team leader at SCAS.

SCAS provides emergency 999, NHS 111 and non-emergency patient transport services to a population of around six million people in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Sussex.

Its team of 4,600 employees, together with over 1,000 volunteer community and co-responders, enables the organisation to attend over 500,000 incidents via 999, handle 1.3 million calls to NHS 111 and make 970,00 patient transport service journeys every year.

“Receiving this funding from Barrett and David Wilson Homes has made it possible to develop the training suite in Oxfordshire. The charity is very grateful for this generous financial support.

“In addition, it has kickstarted a new programme of support from the SCAS Charity to our clinical teams across SCAS and we have recently provided additional training equipment at six of our stations. We are delighted the charity has been able to build on this corporate donation to support a wider cohort across SCAS.”

Vanessa Casey, chief executive at the SCAS Charity.
