Matthew Killick will soon join St John Ambulance as the first aid charity’s Chief Operating Officer, moving from Scouts where he has has been Executive Director of Operations since July 2023.

With over 25 years of experience in senior operational and commercial business development roles within prominent charities, including Barnardo’s and Catch 22, Matthew brings a wealth of expertise to St John Ambulance.

Prior to joining Scouts, he spent six years in senior roles with the Red Cross where he led some of the largest operational responses in recent history, addressing critical issues such as the Covid pandemic, the Afghanistan evacuation, and the conflict in Ukraine.

“I’m truly excited to be joining an organisation that plays such a vital role in society. St John is an incredible charity, and I look forward to working alongside the dedicated employees and volunteers who make such a difference every day to the lives of others.”

This appointment follows the arrival of former senior civil servant Shona Dunn who took up the role of CEO in May last year. Commenting on Matthew’s appointment, she said: “As we focus on our growth and impact, I am confident that Matthew’s experience and passion will be pivotal in helping us achieve our goals.”
