A Wolverhampton-based domestic abuse charity has appointed a former West Midlands Police lead as its new CEO.
The Haven Wolverhampton said the appointment of Laura Rogers, ex-West Midlands Police MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference) Lead, would help the charity further strengthen its position in the community.
During her time at West Midlands Police, Rogers led the regional response to high-risk domestic abuse cases across the West Midlands. She brings her vast expertise of how services and partners should respond to domestic abuse and safeguarding in the local community, and an understanding of the challenges the domestic abuse sector faces.
The announcement comes as The Haven Wolverhampton has been awarded the Women’s Aid National Quality Standard 2024-27 accreditation, an endorsement that demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to providing excellent services to women and children.
“I’ve worked closely with The Haven for many years now and having been away from non-profit during my time in policing, joining The Haven gives me a real sense of ‘coming home’.
“Working with my new team, I’ll use my connections in Wolverhampton and beyond to drive meaningful action and change for the women and children affected by the trauma of abuse. Success comes only with collaboration, and this is a key thread in how I work and the way The Haven will operate under my leadership. I am also thrilled The Haven has been officially recognised as a Women’s Aid Federation of England accredited organisation – a testament to the team’s tireless commitment to making a positive impact, making now an incredibly exciting time to be joining them.”
