Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) has just finished rolling out Unblur’s digital Incident Command Software, IRIS Core and Tactics, across all its appliances and command vehicles.

As part of HFRS’s vision to equip its frontline crews with the latest digital technology, Officers in Charge will have IRIS Tactics available on mobile devices, while the traditional command support wallet will be replaced by IRIS Core on appliance tablets.

This enhanced capability will provide real-time situational awareness and live
information sharing across HFRS’s command units, fire control, Tactical Coordination
Groups (TCG) and Strategic Coordination Groups (SCG).

To support this rollout, Unblur has successfully integrated HFRS’s Site Specific Risk
Information (SSRI), hydrant data, and GPS-based appliance tracking systems into the
IRIS platform.

Looking ahead, with the planned deployment of HFRS’s Command and Control Vision 5
software in late 2025, IRIS will be fully integrated—delivering a seamless and unified
operational command solution.

“The implementation of Unblur’s incident command system represents a significant step forward in our digital transformation journey.

“The platform not only enhances situational awareness and decision-making on the incident ground, but it also plays a crucial role in safeguarding our operational crews; with the ability to share incident information dynamically, quickly and remotely to those that need it and when it is needed.”

Steve Duffield, Emergency Response Area Manager at Humberside.

The Service has worked closely with Unblur to roll-out the comprehensive incident
command solution across all levels of operation. From the outset, the collaboration has
been centred around ensuring the system is intuitive, reliable, and responsive to the
unique challenges of emergency response.

In August 2024, West Midlands Fire Service implemented Unblur’s IRIS Core and Tactics Incident Management and Situation Awareness Platform, supporting efficient decision making and coordination in high-stress environments.
