The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) has announced the appointment of its new Board of Trustee Directors, following its first-ever hybrid Annual General Meeting held earlier this week.

The event welcomed members both in person at Stratford-upon-Avon and virtually from across the globe, reflecting the IFE’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and international engagement.

This milestone AGM marked a significant step forward in broadening member participation, enabling a truly global audience to contribute to the future direction of the institution. A notable increase in attendance underscored the growing enthusiasm and engagement within the IFE community.

During the AGM, members were introduced to the newly appointed trustees—individuals bringing a broad spectrum of experience, leadership and strategic insight to support the IFE’s mission.

Ryan Cleggett joins the Board following election by the International General Assembly. Based in Australia, Ryan is a fire officer with over 20 years’ experience across career and volunteer roles in various fire and rescue agencies. He holds Master’s degrees in Fire Safety Engineering and Occupational Safety, along with an MBA from the University of Sydney. His career spans fire safety engineering, operations, risk assessment and emergency planning. An active member of the IFE Australia branch since 2019, Ryan currently serves as Vice Leader of the International General Assembly.

Appointed by the IFE Registrants Group (IFERG), Roy Little brings over two decades of experience in fire engineering, with a strong focus on regulatory frameworks and functional fire safety objectives. He has held roles with the NHS and Arup and is now Associate Director at Design Fire Consultants, where he leads major projects and drives strategic initiatives. A long-standing contributor to the IFE, Roy chairs the Facade Special Interest Group (SIG), sits on the Technical Panel, and volunteers as a Professional Report Reviewer and registration interviewer.

Jason Hill, Leader of the International General Assembly, has been co-opted to the Board for a one-year term. As an Assistant Fire Commander and active member of the New Zealand branch, Jason brings valuable frontline and strategic experience, along with a strong commitment to international collaboration.

In addition, the Board has co-opted Jacqueline Lewis for a three-year term, following an external appointment process. Jacqueline brings extensive legal expertise that will further strengthen the Board’s governance and oversight capabilities.

The new Board reflects the IFE’s commitment to strong governance, inclusive leadership and strategic growth. Each trustee brings a unique perspective and a shared dedication to advancing the IFE’s objectives and serving its global membership.

The IFE extends its sincere thanks to outgoing trustees Chris Bilby, James Lane, Parina Patel and Hao-Giang Tay for their dedicated service and significant contributions to the early development of the IFE’s strategic direction through to 2025 and beyond.
