CNC partners with Crimestoppers to strengthen anonymous reporting

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) has launched a new partnership with the independent charity Crimestoppers to provide officers and staff with an enhanced and confidential route for raising concerns anonymously.

The move sees CNC adopt Crimestoppers’ Police Integrity Line, replacing its previous SafeCall system, and bringing the organisation into line with most other Home Office police forces. The service operates 24/7, guarantees anonymity, and enables individuals to report misconduct, unethical behaviour or workplace concerns without fear of retaliation.

A central focus of the initiative is tackling sexual harassment, with CNC reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance. The force emphasised that the Police Integrity Line ensures all employees, regardless of gender, can safely and anonymously report concerns.

Superintendent Alastair Stenner, Head of the Professional Standards Department, said the partnership marks an important step in strengthening the organisation’s culture.

“This is an opportunity to re-emphasise the behaviours we expect across the force. By backing this service with clear assurances and guidance, we are upholding both the spirit and the letter of our Code of Ethics. This includes making sure everyone, especially those affected by serious matters like sexual harassment, knows there is a trusted, anonymous route to speak up.”

The CNC said the partnership reflects its ongoing commitment to integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct, while reinforcing a transparent and supportive workplace environment.

For more on how Crimestoppers operates behind the scenes, read Catherine Levin’s interview with CEO Mark Hallas, who explained how the charity processes over 600,000 anonymous contacts a year and why its independence and promise of anonymity remain central to its success.
