Essex & Herts Air Ambulance appoints new CEO

Lanna Deamer2 September 2025No Comments2 Mins Read
EHAAT CEO Mark Jarman-Howe

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) has appointed Mark Jarman-Howe as its new Chief Executive Officer. He will take up the role on 15 September 2025.

Mark joins the charity from St Helena Hospice in Colchester, where he has been Chief Executive since 2013. His career to date has focused on end-of-life care, and his new role represents a shift from supporting patients in their final stages of life to delivering care in the critical first moments after serious illness or injury.

During his 12 years at St Helena, Mark led around 500 staff and 900 volunteers, strengthening clinical services, income generation and community engagement.

“I am delighted, and feel very privileged, to be joining such a well-loved and important regional charity. EHAAT has a strong reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and patient care, and I am energised by the opportunity to lead it into its next chapter.

“My focus will be on turning our ambitious vision into reality – building on our strengths, driving new developments, and ensuring we reach and help even more people when they need us most.”

Mark Jarman-Howe, CEO, EHAAT.

The appointment comes as the charity works towards several major milestones, including achieving its own Air Operator’s Certificate to strengthen operational independence, developing its Centre for Excellence to advance pre-hospital care and creating new opportunities for community fundraising.

EHAAT was recently featured in the Netflix documentary series Critical: Between Life and Death, which highlighted the vital role air ambulance charities play in patient care. The service operates two AW169 helicopters and a fleet of rapid response vehicles, treating an average of 1,900 patients each year.

As it prepares to mark Air Ambulance Week (8-14 September), EHAAT continues to raise awareness of the many ways it supports patients and families – from tackling cardiac arrest survival rates and improving outcomes for head injuries, to offering aftercare to those affected.
