Air Ambulances UK has announced a new partnership with NHS Supply Chain, the organisation responsible for sourcing, delivering and supplying healthcare products, services and food to NHS trusts and healthcare organisations across England and Wales.

The partnership, led by NHS Supply Chain’s Community and Charity Champions network, will raise funds and awareness for the work of air ambulance charities across the UK. Air ambulance crews respond to more than 48,000 emergencies every year, delivering pre-hospital critical care, often in locations that are remote or difficult to access.

An average helicopter mission costs £4,165, with nearly all funding coming from public donations. Through fundraising events, staff engagement and awareness campaigns, the partnership aims to support essential equipment, training and innovation that help air ambulance charities continue delivering care at the point of need.

Andrew New, chief executive of NHS Supply Chain, said the partnership reflects the organisation’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves.

“We’re proud to partner with Air Ambulances UK for the next two years. We’ll be raising funds through sponsored activities, bake sales and team challenges, and colleagues will also volunteer time and skills. Together, we’ll help fund the equipment, training and innovation that allow air ambulance charities to keep delivering lifesaving care every day.”

Air Ambulances UK interim CEO Lindsay Boswell said the partnership will have a direct impact on patient care.

“We are absolutely delighted that NHS Supply Chain has chosen Air Ambulances UK as its charity partner. The generosity and dedication of NHS Supply Chain colleagues will make a real difference – helping to fund the equipment, training and innovation that enable air ambulance charities to continue delivering lifesaving care across the UK.”
