The police leadership commission has issued a call for evidence as part of a national review into the future of police leadership in England and Wales.
Established by the College of Policing with support from the Home Office, the commission is undertaking a comprehensive assessment of how police leadership must evolve to meet changing operational demands and rising public expectations.
The commission is jointly chaired by former Home Secretary Lord Blunkett and former Policing Minister Lord Herbert of South Downs, and brings together senior figures from policing, the military, the private sector and academia to identify best practice and transferable learning across different sectors.
Submissions are being invited from a wide range of contributors, including current and former police officers and staff, partner organisations and members of the public. The commission said diverse perspectives will help shape a blueprint for future police leadership, with a focus on building trust, strengthening capability and improving service delivery.
The call for evidence remains open until 12 February 2026.
All responses will be analysed alongside other evidence gathered by the commission, with findings and recommendations due to be presented to the Home Secretary in May 2026.
The commission said the review is intended to inform long-term leadership development across policing and support the creation of a modern, trusted service capable of meeting community needs in the years ahead.
