CPD-accredited content takes centre stage at The Emergency Services Show

Crowds gather for CPD-accredited content at The Emergency Services Show 2023

With 120+ speakers over five stages providing 55 sessions of free learning and development, visitors to this year’s Emergency Services Show and Emergency Tech Show are spoilt for choice when it comes to earning CPD certificates from show partner, CPDme.

Developing the visitor experience for the shows is at the heart of the content programme and this year the organisers, with the help our a multi-agency advisory council, have focused on five critical areas for learning and development.

People & Skills Stage

The Emergency Services Show hosts three stages in Hall 5.  The new People & Skills Stage sponsored by Coventry University Simulation Centre provides a place to learn about training, apprenticeships, health and wellbeing and much more. Joy Flanagan is hosting this stage, bringing her extensive experience of the blue light sector to elevate the discussion.

Sustainability Stage

The Sustainability Stage sponsored by YPO and is new this year for Hall 5. Professor Guillermo Rein and Rob Gazzard revisit their recent webinar discussion to talk about wildfires; and Rob Simpson will share the findings from the second Winter Storm exercise which tested a multi agency response in sub-zero temperatures. show. Former BBC journalist, Claire Whitaker is the host for this stage.

Firefighter PPE Stage

Ahead of a major new procurement framework for firefighter protective equipment, the Firefighter PPE stage sponsored by Enduro Protect brings together a wide range of experts from both the frontline and supplier world. Visitors will learn about framework is being put together and have chance to hear from experts talking about fit, decontamination and other aspects of keeping firefighters safe. Brett Egan-Briars from Kent Fire and Rescue Service has put the programme together and has some expert hosts to help him throughout the two days.

Tech Main Stage

The Emergency Tech Show hosts two content stages, with the return of the Tech Main Stage hosted once more by BBC News journalist Rich Preston and this year sponsored by NEC Software Solutions. With topics from AI and ethics, through to drones and using mapping to help with safely moving a World War Two bomb, this is going to be a fascinating two days.

Policing Stage

The Policing Stage has an extra special appearance from Radio 4 regular, former cop turned comedian, Alfie Moore. Alfie will be swearing in his audience as cops to help him investigate the vicious assault of a 74 year-old man at a bus stop.  Alfie will explore hate crime legislation and difficult decisions around budgets, risk, resources and duty of care for the emergency services and general public alike. Crisis consultant, Amanda Coleman hosts this packed programme, sponsored by Motorola Solutions, exploring a wide range of policing topics.

The shows’ CPD-accredited content comes courtesy of experts and strategic leaders from across the emergency services. It is a chance for visitors to be inspired by case studies of how services are solving problems through innovation and different approaches.
