Based on a wide ranging consultation exercise with its members and stakeholders from around the world, the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) has now published its 2025 strategy, ‘Leading Fire Safety’ which aims ‘to inspire excellence through knowledge, professional standards and collaboration.’

Leading Fire Safety is based on four themes that outline the IFE’s long-term vision for fire safety. These aim to create a safer world led by well-informed, competent and supported fire professionals.

The first theme focuses on skills, development and innovation, where the IFE says it will facilitate development opportunities and promote a culture of continuous development to equip the profession with the knowledge they need to succeed.

In a second theme on trust and reputation, the IFE says it will promote fire engineering, uphold professional standards and ethical behaviours and inspire the next generation of fire professionals.

Organisational sustainability and engagement are the focus for the third theme. The IFE will ensure operational efficiency, actively engage with its members and build its capacity by empowering volunteers and staff to create greater resilience and make an impact on the sector.

The fourth and final theme reflects the global reach of the IFE and its influence and advocacy, where it seeks to push change, influence agendas and empower the fire safety sector ‘to make a positive difference and illuminate a fire safe future.’

“The strategy is not only designed to support our members as they navigate a sector experiencing unprecedented change, but it also ensures their voices are heard and valued. The IFE is committed to bringing its members on this journey and will provide them with the tools to actively shape and drive fire safety on an international scale.”

Steve Hamm, CEO, Institution of Fire Engineers.
