In a recent update about the delivery of the Emergency Services Network, mission critical communications solutions provider Zetron will be responsible for providing specialist control room capabilities.

Under a subcontracting arrangement with Softcat, Zetron will help in the delivery of the next generation communications network for emergency services and government agencies.

The Emergency Services Network (ESN) will replace the existing Airwave TETRA network with a modern, broadband-based platform, representing a significant shift from narrowband communications to a high bandwidth environment capable of supporting enhanced operational workflows.

Zetron will support the provision of control room systems and related services for ESN, including the development, testing, certification and deployment of an ESN compatible upgrade to its control room solution, aligned to programme requirements and timescales.

The upgraded solution will integrate with ESN Mission Critical Services in accordance with 3GPP standards, enabling secure and resilient voice and data communications between control rooms and frontline resources.

Terry Miller, General Manager for Zetron UK, said that the contract was “an important milestone” for Zetron. The company already supplies its ICCS product, Cortex to 40% of police forces in the UK. He added:

“Our priority is to deliver an ESN compatible upgrade that meets the programme’s requirements while supporting our customers through the transition from legacy systems and enabling them to take full advantage of voice and data capabilities in a mission critical environment.”

“The award highlights the critical role Zetron will play in helping organisations transition to ESN and ensure operational readiness.”

Zetron is a Premier Partner at The Emergency Tech Show 2026, taking place from 16-17 September at the NEC in Birmingham. You can find them on Stand H85. Register to attend here.
