Firefighter PPE manufacturer FlamePro is helping tackle a major challenge faced by emergency services with the launch of a pioneering new app.

For many fire and rescue services, managing kit throughout its lifetime can be just as challenging as selecting it in the first place. Those challenges include tracking garments when sent off for cleaning, understanding when items have reached the end of their service life, and making sure fire crews always have access to the kit they need.

All of these take valuable time and effort, and are critical to the safety of firefighters when responding to life-saving incidents. To help overcome these hurdles, FlamePro has launched a game-changing digital solution, FlamePro Central.

FlamePro Central

FlamePro Central is the UK’s most comprehensive asset management app of its kind, allowing fire services and customers to track each individual piece of kit with ease. Each piece of FlamePro kit will be provided with a built-in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip, giving customers real-time visibility of the location of items of clothing and equipment.

Whether kit is out for cleaning, being returned to station or approaching the end of its life, fire services have clear visibility of where it is and its condition. The app also provides a complete history for every garment, helping simplify record-keeping, improve accountability and support long-term PPE management.

National Firefighter PPE Framework

The launch comes as FlamePro has been named on the National Firefighter PPE Framework, overseen by the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), with the company selected across all six lots it tendered for, covering managed services and firefighter PPE.

The appointment reflects FlamePro’s continued investment in supporting fire and rescue services, both with its certified PPE and the technology and services that help manage it more effectively.

Being named on the National Firefighter PPE Framework reflects more than the quality of the clothing itself. Fire services want more than great PPE – they want confidence that their crews have the right kit, when they need it, backed by support that makes their job simpler.

We’ve spent years developing not just protective clothing that firefighters enjoy wearing, but a complete service around it. FlamePro Central gives fire services far greater visibility of their PPE, and one less thing to worry about, so they can focus on protecting their communities.

Choosing FlamePro, fire services can be confidence that are not only getting PPE they can rely on, but a first-class customer support experience.

FlamePro has been named on six lots within the National Firefighter PPE Framework, covering both its structural firefighter and lightweight firefighting PPE. Those lots are:

  • Lot 1 – Managed Service
  • Lot 3 – Firehoods
  • Lot 4 – Structural Firefighting PPE
  • Lot 5 – Gloves
  • Lot 6 – Footwear
  • Lot 7 – Lightweight Firefighting PPE

The National Firefighter PPE Framework will run for eight years. With the UK widely seen as the gold standard in technical firefighter kit, being named on the framework sends a message to customers that FlamePro is a trusted and admired company in the PPE sector.

Excellence in customer support

FlamePro’s full-service approach and commitment to excellence in customer support was key to being selected on the framework. Alongside FlamePro Central, the company has partnered with specialist workwear laundry provider CLEAN to offer an integrated cleaning and maintenance service.

As FlamePro kit moves through the cleaning process, fire services can see where individual items are, receive updates as they progress through the system and maintain a complete record of cleaning cycles throughout each garment’s life.

The result is greater visibility, less administration and fewer concerns about misplaced or unavailable PPE. That customer-first approach is already making a difference for fire services using FlamePro’s PPE.

The view from Sark

On the small Channel Island of Sark, east of Guernsey, the volunteer-run Sark Fire & Rescue Service relies on FlamePro’s kit to keep their team safe. Sark’s Chief Fire Officer, Kevin Adams, said: “FlamePro go above and beyond to make sure our team is comfortable and wearing kit which is right for them. Communication is excellent, I know I can just send someone a WhatsApp message and they’ll reply really quickly. As a volunteer, who juggles multiple other jobs, that’s invaluable for me.

“FlamePro understand what we need, and the kit is comfortable and a lovely fit.”

By combining high-performance PPE with digital asset management, responsive customer support and an integrated cleaning solution, FlamePro is aiming to reduce the burden of PPE administration so fire services can spend less time managing kit and more time supporting their crews.
