British Heart Foundation awards ZOLL a tender for AEDs for another three-year term

Zoll AED-Plus-AED-coverZOLL Medical Corporation, a manufacturer of medical devices and related software solutions has been selected as a nominated supplier by the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for the ZOLL AED Plus® through 2016.

ZOLL has been working in partnership with the BHF since 2010 to supply the AED Plus through their part-funding programme, which recommends the device to communities and organisations requesting funding for AEDs and offers it at a discounted rate. ZOLL has supplied numerous AEDs to public places and areas of need throughout the United Kingdom in conjunction with its existing partnership with the BHF.

Sarah Forsey, Grants and Awards Manager at the BHF, said, “Less than 10 percent of the 30,000 people that suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital live long enough to leave hospital alive. But many of these lives could be saved if more defibrillators were available in public places. Since 1996 the BHF has placed more than 9500 defibrillators around the UK, many of which have been used in an emergency. We are therefore delighted to be continuing our relationship with ZOLL as we work to make more AEDs readily available in UK communities.”

“Over the last three years, we have seen consistent growth in the AED market in the United Kingdom with communities and businesses beginning to realize the importance of these life-saving devices. This market will continue to grow and we are looking forward to the next three years working in partnership with the British Heart Foundation in helping to save lives from sudden cardiac arrest,” said Jonathan A. Rennert, President of ZOLL.
