Susan Johnson OBE has been appointed as the new Chair of the Civil Nuclear Police Authority. Susan is a former chief executive of Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, where she served until her retirement in 2015. Since then she has held non-executive roles in the public and private sector.
She will be taking over from Sir Craig Mackey, QPM, who held the post of interim Chair following the death of previous Chair Vic Emery in Dec 2021.
CNC Chief Constable Simon Chesterman said, “I am delighted to welcome Susan to the role of CNPA Chair. She brings a wealth of experience from across many different sectors and has already made an impact on the authority. I look forward to working with her over the next three years to ensure the CNC continue to deliver our nationally critical Mission and keep the public safe.
Commenting on her appointment, Susan added, “I am both delighted and proud to be appointed as Chair of the CNPA and look forward to working with my fellow Board members, Simon and the whole team as we strengthen and enhance our contribution to the security of the UK’s energy infrastructure. The threats to our energy security are acute and the economic challenges that face our country are well rehearsed. These will serve to drive ongoing improvements in our efficiency and effectiveness and also underpin our ambition to create a more resilient, flexible, inclusive and values driven organisation.”
