Humberside FRS issues body worn video equipment to NILOs

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) has issued Reveal D-Series body worn video (BWV) equipment to its NILOs (National Inter-Agency Liaison Officers).

The technology has been provided to officers to help capture and record the early decision making process on the operational incident ground, and is expected to be a key tool for investigation, Operational Assurance, and helping to increase situational awareness through live stream functionality.

The body worn cameras will also provide corroboration for officer accounts of events, which are useful in terms of progressing complaints/investigations or to support witness statements. Humberside FRS has stated that BWV should only be used to corroborate and will not replace current decision-making processes, such as decision logs, contemporaneous notes and analytical risk assessments.
