Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed the appointment of Steve Healey as Chief Fire Officer for Cumbria County Council. Steve is currently Deputy Chief Fire Officer, with over 20 years experience working within Cumbria County Council’s fire and rescue service.
Commenting on his appointment, Steve said, “I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Fire Officer for Cumbria. To have the opportunity to lead the service in Cumbria is without doubt the highlight of my career. I am fortunate to work alongside a fantastic team and I look forward to leading them in to the future. Residents in Cumbria should know they are in the hands of some of the most skilled and dedicated firefighters in the country.”
Councillor Janet Willis, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety, said, “Steve will be a fantastic Chief Fire Officer. His many years of experience within the service, particularly here in Cumbria will stand him in good stead to take on this new role. I’m confident that under Steve’s leadership, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is in safe hands and we wish him all the best.”
Whilst congratulating Steve on his new role, Cumbria County Council also thanked current Chief Fire Officer, Paul Hancock for his leadership and expertise during the last 15 months under shared arrangements with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service.
