Dr Mark Patten has joined the Board of Directors at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) as the new Medical Director.
Mark has worked in the medical field for 28 years, both in the NHS and as a Royal Navy reservist. He has worked at the Luton & Dunstable NHS Foundation Trust for 18 years, starting in the critical care field as a Consultant Anaesthetist and Clinical Lead. He then became Clinical Director of Theatres, Anaesthesia and Critical Care before spending three years as the Medical Director.
Chief Executive Robert Morton said, “I am delighted that Mark is joining the team and that we are able to complete the establishment of a permanent leadership team, something the trust has lacked for a number of years. Creating a stable and permanent executive team and board is absolutely essential in enabling us to move the trust forward. Mark brings a proven track record in critical care and improving clinical quality and outcomes for patients, which will help us as we continue to focus on providing the best possible care to patients.”
Mark, who lives in the region, said, “Having worked in critical care throughout my career, I am delighted to be joining the ambulance service. I know the vital role that ambulance staff and volunteers play in saving and changing lives and supporting patients when they need help, care and compassion. I look forward to working with colleagues across the service as we look at how we can deliver better care, closer to home for our patients.”
