A new welfare vehicle for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) staff will become operational this month. The converted Ford Transit, built by the Venari Group of Leeds, will provide a place of respite as well as basic welfare provisions.
The vehicle comes as part of Humberside Fire and Rescue’s commitment to providing welfare for all personnel during and post-incident.
Andy Day, HFRS Fleet Manager said, “Following research and areas of improvements identified via operational debriefs it was recommended to purchase a dedicated, multi-use vehicle that not only provides welfare within our Service area but which can be used for incidents across the border and further afield.”
The main features of the vehicle include a toilet with handwashing facilities, four seats, a table, a microwave, and a hot water boiler. The vehicle will also carry an air shelter to provide additional welfare space and segregated facilities from the vehicle.
