The Joint Public Service Centre Project will see the fire control teams of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) merge with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) and relocate to the South Wales Police (SWP) emergency control room at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, known as the Public Service Centre.
Following the retirement of ACFO Derek Masson, the new Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for this multi-service project has been named as MAWWFRS Chief Fire Officer, Chris Davies.
CFO Davies will be spearheading the project as it reaches an important new stage with the planning application for an extension to be built at the Police Public Service Centre building at South Wales Police submitted to Bridgend County Council, and building work scheduled to start later in May.
CFO Davies said, “This is an important multi-agency project that will allow control staff and managers from blue light services to share a facility that will provide a better flow of intelligence and information when responding to emergency situations.”
