Software helps ambulance service bring operational benefits to fleet management

Chevin Fleet Solutions, a leading global provider of fleet management software, has begun implementing its FleetWave software at the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST).

On hand to support 1100 trust vehicles and 16,000 associated assets – from ambulances, Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART) and first response vehicles to stretchers, defibrillators and first-aid kits – FleetWave will be used to optimise numerous workflow functions, track vehicle usage and prioritise compliance.

Phase one of implementation, which went live in March 2019, presented itself in the form of Chevin’s CORE software, facilitating crucial data migration. Laying the foundations for the following four phases that will be of a bespoke nature.

Once delivered, Chevin’s FleetWave software will facilitate greater control of fleet and asset data to improve efficiency and manage costs through better vehicle utilisation, maintenance schedules, compliance and accident management. These changes are in line with the huge process changes fleet are making to realise the efficiencies.

Over the course of the next 12-months, each additional phase of implementation will bring with it a wide spectrum of operational benefits. Moreover, FleetWave will be used to intuitively manage the entire lifecycle of the trust’s vehicles, with scope to branch out into other business areas such as stock management.

Paul Henry, Deputy Director of Operations Support at EEAST, said, “We are pleased that our trust will soon start to realise the benefits of Fleetwave. The system will allow us to effectively track our vehicles in real time while also logging when they will be off the road for servicing or repairs, in turn helping us to effectively manage our fleet and make the best use of our resources on behalf of our patients. Introducing Fleetwave should also bring cost savings to EEAST by reducing the amount of admin required to manage our vehicles.”

David Gladding, Global Sales and Marketing Director at Chevin, said, “We are very pleased that East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust has chosen Chevin to meet its fleet management needs, and look forward to playing a pivotal role in automating and streamlining important processes.

“Thanks to FleetWave’s comprehensive capabilities, our software is well placed to take a leading role in attaining the trust’s long-term fleet goals, and we very much look forward to working with the team going forwards.”
