The government has published its national fraud strategy and confirmed the creation of the Online Crime Centre backed by £31m in funding with the remit to identify the accounts, websites and phone numbers that organised crime groups rely on, and shut them down at scale.

Report Fraud had its public launch this week with the City of London Police promoting the new national service designed to transform how victims and businesses across England, Wales and Northern Ireland report cyber crime and fraud, and how law enforcement and industry respond. 

Report Fraud has replaced Action Fraud as the UK’s national reporting centre for cyber crime and fraud but continues to be run by the City of London Police for crimes in in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The National Cybercrime Team has appointed international cybersecurity consultancy Waterstons as the new system provider for Police CyberAlarm, following a competitive commercial tender process.
