Drone as First Responder

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police Joint Operations Unit has integrated Drone as First Responder (DFR) technology to a police control room in the first trial of its kind in the UK.

The manufacturer of an innovative Drone-in-a-Box (DiaB) solution, which could be used to provide a rapid response to emergency situations, has secured a government grant in recognition of its development work.

August saw the latest trial in drone as first responder technology with a team from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police Joint Operations Unit demonstrating its capabilities against challenging weather conditions at the Victorious Music Festival in Portsmouth.

Norfolk Constabulary has one of the UK’s most effective police drone units and was chosen by the National Police Chiefs’ Council to lead a trial of Drone as First Responder that will see drones remotely deployed to be first on the scene of police incidents.
