If electric cars are ever to become mainstream, then we are going to need a lot more places to charge them. One solution is to simply repurpose existing infrastructure, without adding extra clutter to the built environment, like BT is doing with its legacy cabinets.

London Fire Brigade: Tackling racism depends on funding, says chief

Tight funding will impact efforts to stamp out racism and misogyny in the London Fire Brigade (LFB), its chief has said.

Commissioner Andy Roe said difficult financial decisions could divert funds from schemes intended to address the brigade’s cultural problems.

East of England Ambulance Service moved out of ‘special measures’

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) has been removed from special measures following significant improvements.

EEAST was first placed into the National Recovery Support Programme for challenged providers and systems (formerly known as ‘special measures’) in 2020 due to concerns around its leadership and culture. More via Emergency Services Times

Ambulance service issues warning to drivers following flood water incidents

Ambulance bosses are warning the public about the dangers of driving through flooded roads.

The warning from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) comes after ambulance crews were called to treat five patients from four separate incidents. As bad weather continues to impact the UK, drivers should consider whether they genuinely need to go out in their cars. More via WMAS

Podcast duo jailed for terrorism offences following Met investigation

Two men who used a podcast series to encourage listeners to commit violent acts against ethnic minorities have been jailed for a combined total of 15 years today, following an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Christopher Gibbons and Tyrone Patten-Walsh, both from London, were identified by Met officers as being the hosts of a neo-Nazi online podcast. More via Counter Terrorism Policing

Police Federation issues response to BBC’s Panorama programme

The Police Federation of England and Wales (PFEW) has issued a response to a recent episode of BBC’s Panorama which highlighted inadequate police investigations.

Steve Hartshorn, PFEW National Chair, said that, while victim impact was quite rightly emphasised, the root causes that have led to such failings should also be acknowledged. More via PFEW
