Airbeat 2024, a major electronic music festival that takes place in Germany, drew over 220,000 attendees and presented unique medical challenges due to its scale and high-energy environment. A robust medical response plan was implemented, featuring advanced technology and a dedicated and skilled team.

Mindray‘s BeneHeart defibrillators/monitors DX, D30, D60 along with TV50 and TV80 transport ventilators, EPM patient monitors, BeneFusion NSP syringe pumps, and the impressive CMS central monitoring system formed the technological backbone of the medical response. These interconnected devices enabled the following:

  •  Rapid assessment: Vital signs monitoring, ECG analysis, and quick diagnostic capabilities facilitated efficient triage.
  •  Targeted treatment: Precise medication delivery through infusion pumps, advanced ventilation support, and defibrillation therapies.
  •  Data centralisation: Patient data was consolidated in the CMS, allowing for real-time monitoring and informed decision-making.
  • Seamless communication: Medical teams could share information instantly, enhancing coordination and responsiveness.
  • Intuitive operation: The user-friendly interfaces of the devices allowed for rapid training and adoption by the medical team, ensuring optimal utilisation.
  • Personnel: A dedicated medical team comprised of 12 physicians and 400 paramedics and EMTs were onsite, ensuring round-the-clock care. Their expertise, combined with the technology’s ease of use, facilitated the treatment of over 1,100 patients, ranging from minor injuries to critical.

The comprehensive medical support system proved highly effective in managing a wide range of medical conditions in a challenging environment. The integrated technology streamlined workflows, optimised resource allocation and ultimately contributed to positive patient outcomes.

Airbeat 2024 showcased the successful implementation of advanced medical technology in a mass gathering setting. The combination of skilled personnel, intuitive devices, a well-coordinated response plan and efficient training demonstrates a model for future large-scale event medical support.
