BTP appoints two new Chief Officers

27 November 2024Updated:27 November 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

British Transport Police (BTP) has appointed two new roles within its Chief Officer Group.

Ian Drummond-Smith, BTP’s new Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) for Network Policing and Steff Sharp, Director of Corporate Development, have both joined the Chief Officer Group, which makes up BTP’s strategic command team.

Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi CVO QPM announced the appointments earlier this month, saying she was looking forward to working with both Ian and Steff “to carry on our vision of becoming a world-leading police force, trusted to provide a safe and reliable railway.”

Ian moved to BTP following a 26-year career at Devon and Cornwall Police. He has a wealth of experience, including from his work for the National Police Chiefs’ Council coordinating the police response to the prison early release strategy and the national investigations into the recent riots.

Steff is the epitome of a BTP success story, having joined the force in its Central London Police Station as a PNC Operator 14 years ago. Since then, every role Steff has filled has given her a different insight into how special BTP is. Having more recently taken on the Director of Corporate Development temporarily, Steff has shown how she can rise to the challenge.
