Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has become the first fire service in the UK to achieve the Menopause Friendly Accreditation.

This milestone reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Established by Henpicked: Menopause In The Workplace, the Menopause Friendly Accreditation recognises high standards and proven practices that embrace menopause in the workplace.

Humberside fire service’s Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team has worked closely with staff to create a positive culture around menopause, and this new accreditation reflects its commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace.

Key initiatives include:

  • Implementing a Menopause Policy to support employees through perimenopause and menopause.
  • Hosting awareness workshops and wellbeing events aligned with International Women’s Day.
  • Establishing a Menopause Networking Group to encourage open discussions and peer support.

“Our staff have demanding and responsible roles, and we view creating an inclusive workplace not just as a duty, but as an opportunity to support their wellbeing and foster a supportive environment.

“We are very proud to be the first Fire and Rescue Service in the UK to achieve Menopause Friendly Accreditation. This is a major milestone, and we remain committed to continuing our growth as an inclusive organisation where all employees of Humberside Fire & Rescue Service feel confident and comfortable at work.”

Jordan Kerman, Head of Occupational Health and Wellbeing at Humberside Fire and Rescue Service.

Humberside fire said that its efforts have not only strengthened its workplace, byt also improved its ability to serve the local community with understanding and care.
