The Fire Protection Association (FPA) has announced plans to relocate its training and office operations to new premises in north Oxfordshire early next year, marking the end of a 21-year association with the Fire Service College.

The move will see the organisation establish its new Training and Education Centre at Pembroke House near Banbury. The site will become the central hub for the FPA’s extensive portfolio of courses, with significant investment being made to create modern facilities that reflect the growing demand for fire safety training.

The new premises will double the FPA’s current classroom provision, featuring four newly equipped teaching rooms designed to support both existing courses and new offerings planned for 2026. The facilities will also be available to organisations seeking bespoke training programmes designed and delivered by FPA professionals.

A key feature of the new centre will be a purpose-built practical training suite, developed in partnership with industry collaborators. The suite will provide an immersive learning environment that incorporates real-life simulations and interactive content to enhance the training experience.

The FPA has also emphasised that accessibility and equality will remain central to its training ethos. The new facility will include dedicated spaces for one-to-one learner support and assessment methods tailored to individual needs, ensuring equal access to fair evaluation and learning opportunities.

Dr Gavin Dunn, chief executive of the FPA, said the relocation represented a major step forward for the organisation. “Alongside our growing state-of-the-art laboratory at Blockley, Gloucestershire, the new Training and Education Centre at Banbury will allow us to continue to offer our high-quality services in modern surroundings,” he said. “This move demonstrates the FPA’s commitment to supporting the advancement of fire safety across the UK market, and we look forward to welcoming training delegates to our new premises in January.”

According to the association, the move will offer learners a broader range of experiences and resources to support their professional development and empower them to progress within the fire safety sector.
