Emergency services in the UK are set to reach incidents faster thanks to a new partnership between Blue Light Maps and location-data specialist, Naurt. The collaboration integrates high-accuracy front-door and parking data, originally developed for the delivery sector, into mapping systems used by fire, police and ambulance crews.

Traditional mapping tools often provide coordinates for the centre of a building or a general area, which can leave responders searching for the correct entrance. Naurt’s dataset, covering more than 30 million UK addresses, allows Blue Light Maps to guide crews directly to the correct point of entry, potentially saving crucial seconds during incidents.

“Emergency services face many of the same challenges as couriers: complex addresses, multi-entrance buildings and rural properties that are hard to locate. Partnering with Naurt lets us reuse proven innovation from another industry and apply it where it can make a real difference, getting crews to the correct door faster.”

Henry Sternberg, Director, Blue Light Maps.

Naurt CEO Jack Maddalena added that the technology, originally designed to guide deliveries, is now being applied in a public safety context. “This partnership shows how accurate, real-world location data can deliver real-world impact,” he said.

The integration provides door-level coordinates and parking information for nearly every UK address, improving routing and situational awareness for responders both online and offline. The partnership illustrates how technology developed in the commercial sector can be adapted to support emergency services.

Daniel Grew, Operational Technology Manager at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service, said the app has already made a difference in practice: “We have been using the Blue Light Maps app in 40 of our specialist frontline vehicles and it has made a positive difference in reaching incidents more quickly and effectively.”
