West Midlands Ambulance Service has achieved the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) Silver Workplace Quality Mark. This national recognition highlights how the Trust supports staff with dyslexia and other neurodivergent conditions such as ADHD, dyspraxia and autism.
The award celebrates the Trust’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive, dyslexia-friendly workplace where every employee feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential
In her summary report, BDA Verifier Claudia Cotton praised the Trust’s inclusive culture of inclusion, noting:
“This is an organisation greatly invested in supporting employees with dyslexia and other co-occurring conditions. The growth of various networks and social events over the last few years have encouraged the involvement of a variety of staff members. The mantra that was heard repeatedly during the verification meeting was that ‘not one size fits all’. From the way employees spoke, adaptations are fluid, employees feel safe to share their opinions and feel listened to.”
The BDA Workplace Quality Mark celebrates employers who lead the way in neurodiversity inclusion. It recognises those who make meaningful adjustments, provide awareness training, and create safe spaces for open discussion. The Silver Award reflects the Trust’s progress from Bronze status and it’s strong commitment to continuous improvement.
“This is fantastic news for the Trust to be recognised for the fantastic work being undertaken to improve the lives of neurodivergent people, and specifically those with dyslexia. Moving from bronze to silver is an achievement but we’re not resting on our laurels just yet.
“We will continue to invest our time into initiatives that make the workplace more inclusive. This includes further awareness campaigns, bolstering peer support networks and improved access to training and resources.”

The Trust will continue building on its progress with further initiatives to enhance workplace inclusivity with an aim to achieve gold status in the next accreditation cycle.
