College of Paramedics takes next step to obtain Royal Charter

The College of Paramedics balloted its members on whether it should petition to obtain a Royal Charter. During an extraordinary general meeting, College President, Dr John Martin, confirmed that over 97 per cent of members who voted supported the College in taking the next step to chartership.

College of Paramedic members voted on the following resolution:

“That the College shall petition His Majesty the King for the incorporation of the College of Paramedics by Royal Charter in accordance with the attached documents (the Petition, the draft Charter and Bylaws and the list of non-objectors) including any changes that might be required by the Privy Council while considering this Petition. If this Petition is granted, the new legal entity so created will replace the presently registered limited liability company.”

The College will now submit the petition, charter and bylaws to the Privy Council Office.

Created in 2004, the College of Paramedics was previously been known as the British Paramedic Association. The College is the professional body for paramedics in the UK.

The ballot took place between 29 November and 12 December with a 14.7 per cent turnout.
