Young people help shape Police Race Action Plan

Dozens of young people have had their say on the flagship plan to tackle racism and discrimination in policing as part of a major programme of work by the Police Race Action Plan.

Groups of young people from across the country came together in Birmingham last weekend to give their views on policing and what the plan should focus on. More via Emergency Services Times

Policing accepts all Angiolini recommendations

Policing is taking forward all recommendations made by Part 1 of the Angiolini Inquiry report.

In separate statements, both the National Police Chiefs’ Council and the College of Policing said they accept all of the inquiry’s recommendations. More via College of Policing

Police Scotland’s latest canine recruits – Digital Evidence Detection Dogs

The latest additions to Police Scotland’s canine search capability – Digital Evidence Detection Dogs – are currently being trained before they are deployed operationally.

The dogs will assist officers investigating a crime where a digital device, such as a smartphone, tablet and laptop, may have been used and is believed to have been hidden. More via Police Scotland

APCC Transparency Leads respond to Home Secretary’s statement on police misconduct and investigations

The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) portfolio leads for Police Transparency and Accountability have responded to the Home Secretary’s Written Ministerial Statement on police misconduct and investigations.

Giles Orpen-Smellie and Alison Lowe said they were “concerned that the government’s plans are only now at the consultation stage.” More via APCC

Space-connected ambulances improve patient care

Satellites are helping to improve at-home patient care for those living in remote areas of the UK. ESA and the UK Space Agency (UKSA) are working with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) to trial the Digital Ambulance of the Future project, which enables paramedics to stay connected to vital patient data, support and resources as they serve people in remote areas.

The ultimate aim is to improve patient care and reduce unnecessary hospital admissions. More via ESA

NPCC issues updated response to Tees Valley Inclusion Project super-complaint report

The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) has issued an updated response to the recommendations made in the report on the Tees Valley Inclusion Project super-complaint, published by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS), the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) and the College of Policing. Belfast man accused of phoning for ambulances 44 times

A man accused of phoning the emergency 999 system more than 40 times in a five-day period has been remanded in custody.

Peter O’Toole is accused of repeatedly having paramedics dispatched to his home in Belfast last week but then refusing to accompany them to hospital. More via BBC News

North Wales Fire Service issues plea after spate of tumble dryer fires

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has issued an appeal following a spate of “devastating” tumble dryer fires in the region.

The Head of Fire Safety for North Wales is appealing to residents to ensure they use tumble dryers safely and have working smoke alarms fitted in their homes after a fire caused severe fire damage to two homes in Broughton on Saturday. More via The Leader
