Force receives UK’s first motorcycle simulator

Devon & Cornwall Police is using a new motorcycle simulator, the first of its kind in the UK, to pilot a national initiative to test the effectiveness of simulated hazard awareness training and its impact on the reduction of serious and fatal collisions.

Funded as part of a successful bid to the Department for Transport and Vision Zero South West, the simulator is part of national road safety scheme called Project APEX. More via Emergency Services Times

UK policing and partners announce support for Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

With just 100 days until the start of the 2024 Games, police and partners, including the Ministry of Defence, have today confirmed they will be in attendance at one of the world’s largest sporting events.

Officers from forces across the UK and Crown Dependencies will be deployed to support the French security and engagement operation during the eight-week event. More via National Police Chiefs’ Council

PSNI Enquiry Office closures result of budget pressures – PFNI

The Police Federation for Northern Ireland (PFNI) says the planned closure of eleven PSNI Station Enquiry Offices is the inevitable consequence of budget pressures.

Air ambulance celebrates 10 years of emergency blood transfusions

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has marked 10 years since its life-saving crew carried out the charity’s first blood transfusion.

In the last five years alone, the charity’s doctors and paramedics have administered blood 274 times on scene. More via Emergency Services Times

HMICFRS publishes new police integrity inspection programme methodology

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has published a new methodology for the new police integrity inspection programme.

HMICFRS said it is inspecting the professional standards, vetting and counter-corruption arrangements in police forces in England and Wales. These elements form HMICFRS’s Integrity programme of inspections. More via HMICFRS

Student paramedics urged to call out misconduct

Student paramedics have a “unique vulnerability” in experiencing sexual misconduct, according to a NHS ambulance trust.

Trainees on placement from university were not always confident to “speak up” and had expectations of professional behaviour, a South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) board meeting heard. More via BBC News

Private ambulance service may appoint administrators

A private ambulance service, which has its headquarters in the West Midlands, has posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

The notice has put more than 240 jobs at Elite Emergency Medical Services at risk. More via Express & Star

A sneak preview of the North East’s new green tri-service station

Hebburn Tri-Station is about to become home to police, fire and ambulance in the North East region as the carbon neutral buildings near completion.

Esh Construction shared some preview photographs and details ahead of the handover later this month to Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Fire Authority which led on the project for the three services. More via Emergency Services Times
