NFCC releases three new EDI toolkits | New UK crypto legislation comes into effect

The National Fire Chiefs Council has released three new toolkits as part of its commitment to support fire and rescue services in embedding equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the fire sector. And new UK crypto legislation, which enables police to seize cryptoassets without making an arrest, has come into effect.

NFCC releases three new EDI toolkits

As part of the NFCC’s commitment to support fire and rescue services in embedding equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the fire sector, the People, Culture, and Leadership Programme has developed a series of EDI Toolkits to sit alongside an existing suite of resources in the EDI Hub. Investigation reveals one in four ambulances are off the road

More than one in four ambulances are off the road due to maintenance or reliability issues in some areas, an investigation reveals.

Crews warn patients are being forced to wait too long for emergency care as trusts are struggling with a crippling shortage of staff and vehicles.

Just 78 per cent of ambulances nationally are operational on any given day – falling to as low as 72 per cent at South Central Ambulance Trust. More via Daily Mail

New police dog guidance and APP launched

The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) has launched new police dog guidance which sets out how dog units should carry out the day-to-day functions of their unit.

Coinciding with the new guidance, the College of Policing has published new authorised professional practice on caring and working with police dogs. More via NPCC

NFCC releases statement on new Home Office fire data

The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) has released a joint statement with Electrical Safety First (ESF) responding to new Home Office numbers on fires, fatalities and casualties related to e-bike and e-scooters.

Phil Clark, Emerging Energy Technologies Lead for NFCC and Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of ESF said both entities have long warned about the fire safety risks posed by poorly manufactured or converted e-bikes and e-scooter batteries, and have been calling for urgent regulatory and legislative changes to help keep people safe. Force takes multi-agency approach to disrupting crime in North Wales

North Wales Police is implementing a new initiative called RENEW that uses a combination of targeted high-visibility police operations and covert policing tactics alongside activity and support from partners to protect communities and prevent organised crime groups from operating.

RENEW is based on the Clear, Hold, Build multi-agency partnership tactic designed by the Home Office to regenerate areas most affected by serious and organised crime. More via Emergency Services Times

New UK crypto legislation comes into effect

The UK has implemented new legislation granting the National Crime Agency and police unprecedented powers designed to combat cryptocurrency crime.

Alongside these new powers, the UK government is fast-tracking the development of a comprehensive regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies. More via ccn.com
