City of London Police to get new leadership | Ambulance chiefs publish results of first national volunteering survey

Angela McLaren, Commissioner of the City of London Police since 2021 is set to retire later this month. The Authority Chair said that she is retiring on medical grounds, adding that she had been a ‘first class’ commissioner. And continuing this week’s volunteering theme, the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives has published the results of its first national volunteering strategy based on over 2500 responses from ambulances across the country.

City of London Police to get new leadership as Commissioner retires on medical grounds

Described by the Chair of the City of London Police Authority Board as ‘a first class commissioner,’ Anglea McLaren is to retire later this month on medical grounds, having been in post since 2021. More via Emergency Services Times

North Fire releases first images of new rapid intervention vehicle

Yorkshire-based firefighting appliance manufacturer, North Fire, has released images of its newly developed rapid intervention vehicle (RIV), with double-figures in production for delivery into UK fire and rescue services in the coming months. More via Emergency Services Times

Flag relay between coastal watch stations raises funds and awareness of safety at sea

The National Coastwatch Institution is flying the flag for coastal safety with the start of a 2000 mile station-to-station relay as part of the charity’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The safety organisation has used Volunteers’ Week to kick off visits to over 60 stations over the next few months. More via Emergency Services Times

Ambulance chiefs publish results of first national volunteering survey

The survey was completed by nearly 2500 volunteers from across the country, and provides the first national picture of the volunteering experience in the ambulance service. The results are being used to develop the next phase of the national volunteering strategy. More via AACE

Two weeks left to respond to digital and cyber security fire standard consultation

In another step forward to professionalising the fire and rescue service, the Fire Standards Board for England has published a draft standard focused on the implementation and security of ICT to deliver prevention, protection and response to local communities. More via Emergency Services Times
