The National Police Chiefs’ Council has published a new cyber security strategy which is designed to transform policing’s resilience to cyber attacks. And a fire service has issued a warning about the perils of drinking and driving in the style of period drama Bridgerton.

New strategy focuses on transforming policing’s resilience to cyber attacks

The National Police Chiefs’ Council has published the National Policing Cyber Security Strategy setting out proposals to transform policing’s resilience to cyber attacks, while at the same time maintaining public trust and confidence in law enforcement. More via Emergency Services Times

Man made more than 100 abusive calls to emergency services in one week

A man who made more than 100 abusive calls to the emergency services has been sentenced.

Adil Hassan, 36, from Cardiff, made more than 100 calls to the Welsh Ambulance Service between 10 and 16 May. More via Sky News

Fire service issues Bridgerton-style drink-drive warning

A fire service has issued a warning about the perils of drink-driving in the style of period drama Bridgerton.

It comes after the release of the third series of the Netflix show which features society papers written by the show’s Lady Whistledown. More via BBC News

Coroner asks ambulance service to carry antidote

A coroner has said ambulance services must carry an antidote to a poisonous substance after a 22-year-old mother took her own life.

Crispin Butler, the senior coroner for Buckinghamshire said there needs to be a “triaging and prioritising ambulance attendance” to an incident where the substance has been taken. More via BBC News

Fire service tackles culture to prevent staff discrimination and bullying

South Yorkshire Fire Service is tackling its culture to ensure that no staff suffer from discrimination or bullying.

Sue Kelsey, director of people and culture at the fire service, told a meeting of South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority in Barnsley yesterday (June 18): “There have been concerns about the culture of the fire and rescue services around the country.

“We are clearly no exception to that and we are not complacent.” More via The Star
