Judi Heaton QPM has come out of retirement to rejoin Humberside Police as its Chief Constable for the next six months, while the Police and Crime Commissioner searches for a permanent replacement for Paul Anderson. And perjury claims against Guernsey’s Chief of Police are to be investigated by UK-based force.

Humberside Police under new leadership after abrupt departure of former chief

Judi Heaton QPM has come out of retirement to rejoin Humberside Police as its Chief Constable for the next six months, while the Police and Crime Commissioner searches for a permanent replacement for Paul Anderson, who retired suddenly last week while under investigation by the police watchdog. City of London Police welcomes latest four legged recruit

Having finished a structured training programme, a police horse called Andy has been given his official name and service number at a formal ceremony in the City of London. The Mounted Branch of the City of London Police said that Andy would now be known as PH Thomson, named after the deputy of the City of London Police Authority Board James Thomson. Investigation begins into stately home plane crash

An investigation has begun after a light aircraft crashed at a stately home injuring two people.

Emergency services were called to Heveningham Hall – a Grade I listed mansion – near Halesworth, Suffolk at about 13:07 BST on Sunday. More via BBC News

IFE invites nominations for International President

The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) is inviting candidates to stand for the role of International President. The International President is currently a Trustee of the IFE and takes an active Board role in shaping the future of the fire profession. More via IFE

Perjury claims against Guernsey’s Chief of Police to be investigated by UK-based force

A complaint alleging that Guernsey’s most senior police officer committed perjury will be investigated by a UK-based force.

The claim was made against Chief of Police Ruari Hardy in December 2023 and is believed to relate to sworn statements he made on two separate occasions during a 2022 court case. More via itvX
