The 2 layer, 1 piece (165) and the 2 Layer, 2 piece (355 & 470) suits are made from 1241 fabric, comprising of 170gsm plain weave ripstop, 87% Meta Aramid, 11% Para Aramid and 2% Anti-Static. The 1 Layer, 2 piece (459 & 460) is made from 1250 fabric comprising of 270gsm plain weave ripstop, 59% Meta Aramid, 40% Para Aramid and 1% Anti-Static.

Yaffy’s Police Support Unit (PSU) suits, featuring C6 technology, are Module B and Module D certified and are fully compliant with the British Standard 7971-10:2014 (excluding 4.6.3.7, 4.6.3.10 and 4.6.4.3.12).

The Module B certification means that Yaffy’s PSU suits have undergone independent testing to prove compliance with the British Standard 7971-10:2014. Yaffy has aligned itself with industry innovators who achieved this ahead of the 6 June 2023 deadline.

Module D certification demonstrates that Yaffy’s manufacturing sites are fully compliant and are approved by Independent third-party auditors. Controls are all in place for full transparency, from fabric production to garment manufacture. Inner garment care labels state fabric roll identification for the life cycle of the garment, giving full traceability of each individual garment by wearers.

Where can I purchase Yaffy’s PSU suits?

Yaffy is one of the suppliers on the Blue Light Commercial National Framework Awarded for the Provision of PSU Clothing and Equipment (BLC0069), listed under Mi Hub t/a Yaffy. The framework covers single-layer suits (inc. FR undergarments), twin-layer suits (inc standard undergarments), headover/hoods, helmet, limb guards, all-in-one limb guards, gloves and footwear.

Yaffy is the only supplier awarded on this framework for Lot 3, FR lightweight 2 layer PSU clothing and Lot 9 PSU footwear. The Enforcer boot features a 2mm flame retardant leather, cut-resistant and flame retardant upper, metatarsal protective guard, anti-corrosion metal lacing system, toe cap protection, puncture protection, is heat resistant HRO (300℃) and has been chemically splash tested. Tested and certified to BS 7971-5:2016, EN ISO 20345:2022 and S3L CI CR SR HRO FO WR.

By purchasing from Yaffy through the framework, forces achieve the best value whilst being assured that Yaffy as a supplier, and its products comply with the required legislative and technical standards.

Yaffy’s PSU range can be purchased through further frameworks including YPO FW1026, and NUMS (National Uniform Management Service).

What do people have to say about Yaffy’s PSU suits?

“As a Tactical Advisor, I get set on fire about 35 times a year and have been doing it for 33 years. Yaffy makes the best PSU suits and it’s the only suit I will ever wear. Our suit in the US is designed to wear in 110-degree weather. I have championed to get Yaffy’s PSU suit written into the US National Public Order Standard for Equipment.”

Geoff Perrin, Partner at Survival Edge Tactical Systems Inc. and Tactical Advisor for Training to Military and LE contracts.
What is C6 technology?

C6 technology replaced C8 for use in PPE textiles, and from 6 June 2023 is now the legal requirement for all newly manufactured PPE textiles, including Police Support Unit (PSU) suits.

The European Union updated regulations for chemical use in textiles in retail in 2020, stating that the contents of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in C8 did not meet environmental protection requirements and are forbidden to be used. Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, known as PFAS, have been extensively produced and the most studied of these chemicals.
