Aviation crisis response to inspire emergency planners at upcoming webinar

Buckinghamshire New University’s (BNU) Centre for Intelligence, Security and Resilience is delighted to host a second Horizon Scanning Organisational Resilience and Emergencies Planning webinar this September using real world examples from the aviation industry.

The webinar will look at roles and responsibilities, plans and planning, responding, and recovery, as well as the broader aspects of stakeholder and media engagement in the context of the Singapore Airlines SQ 321 turbulence event and the Crowdstrike IT failures.

The focus on aviation for this free to access webinar which takes place on 4 September, is the result of feedback and interest in BNU’s new Resilience and Emergencies Professional degree apprenticeship programme.

We found that interest and sign-up for the digital-first apprenticeship programme has been cross-sector, and the wide-ranging impacts of emergency response in the context of aviation are felt across multiple agencies such as local government organisations, the national health service, and the road and rail networks.  As a result, themes such as planning, future risk considerations, and response exercising are just as relevant if attendees are from a national commercial organisation or from a local council.

In our first webinar, which welcomed 50 delegates from across the UK, we discussed the lessons learnt from the WW2 unexploded bomb in Plymouth, the Campanar residential apartment block fire in Valencia and the Manchester Arena bombing.

To sign-up for a free space at the webinar which runs from 0930 – 1100 on 4 September visit the Eventbrite listing. To ask questions about the new Resilience and Emergencies Professional Degree Apprenticeship programme please contact Sally.Madden@bnu.ac.uk.
