Autotech Training to showcase solutions at The Emergency Services Show to overcome skills shortages

18 September 2024Updated:18 September 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

At The Emergency Services Show, which opens at 9am today, Autotech Training (Stand 5/L224) will demonstrate its extensive IMI-accredited training offering which has been designed to help emergency service workshops overcome technician shortages and adapt to emerging vehicle technologies, including EVs, ADAS, and hydrogen.

With a focus on addressing the critical shortage of skilled technicians capable of maintaining the UK’s 65,000-strong fleet of emergency service vehicles, Autotech Training’s spotlight will be on bridging this gap, particularly as the sector transitions to electric and hydrogen vehicles.

While the shift towards these vehicles promises to reduce carbon footprints and operational costs, it highlights the urgent necessity for comprehensive upskilling of technicians to ensure safety and efficiency.

Autotech Training will highlight how the unique components and maintenance requirements of electric and hydrogen vehicles require a distinctive skill set and emphasise the different levels of specialised training available for all personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of these vehicles.

While showcasing its full portfolio of training courses, including REACT and Air Conditioning, Autotech Training will also emphasise the importance of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) which is pivotal to ensuring that technicians remain compliant and updated with the latest advancements in Electric Vehicles (EV) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology.

In addition to technical training, the team will highlight its extensive collaboration with emergency services across the UK, where they have provided workshop managers with customised Management Development Programmes to help guide their teams through this significant technological shift.

New brand debut

Autotech Connect, a new addition to the Autotech Group brand portfolio, will make its debut at the Emergency Service Show and join the Autotech Training team to showcase cutting-edge technology aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity in the automotive and emergency services sectors.

Central to Autotech Connect’s offering is the integration of Assisted Reality RealWear headsets. These state-of-the-art devices are designed to support remote assistance and digital work processes, effectively addressing resource and skill challenges faced by emergency service professionals. The headset technology provides an innovative solution that allows on-site staff to connect seamlessly with specialists, ensuring that critical tasks are executed precisely and efficiently.

For police force forensic teams, the technology ensures that every piece of evidence is meticulously documented during a single site visit. This capability is crucial, as it empowers personnel on the scene to overcome the pressures of fieldwork while maintaining high standards of accuracy and thoroughness.

For heavily adapted ambulances which increasingly require specialised skills for diagnosing and fixing faults. the headsets can be deployed within repair workshops, providing real-time access to workflow guides and technical resources, accelerating the diagnostic and repair process, and ensuring that life-saving services remain operational.

This debut marks a significant milestone in the transformation of mobility within the emergency services and automotive industries.

Autotech Training and Autotech Connect experts will be available throughout The Emergency Services Show on Stand 5/L224 to discuss specific business needs. There is still time to register for free entry and you can check out the full exhibitor list here.
