A new data-driven national strategy will target the most dangerous perpetrators of domestic abuse. And a Home Office crackdown against people-smuggling gangs and people exploiting the Common Travel Area (CTA) has led to the arrest of 31 people in multiple locations across the UK.

Firefighters killed in WW2 raid to be remembered

A memorial event is set to take place to honour Nottinghamshire firefighters who were killed and injured in a World War Two bombing raid.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) said it wanted to honour volunteers called to Manchester during the devastating “Christmas Blitz”, on 23 December, 1940. More via BBC News

New Welfare and Falls Rapid Response service for Pembrokeshire

St John Ambulance Cymru has secured a contract to provide a new Welfare and Falls Rapid Response service in the Pembrokeshire area, which will see staff responding to incidents to assess and assist people, reducing demand on Emergency Medical Services. More via Cambrian News

Horror as e-bike battery fire guts family home, as fire brigade call outs soar

Safety experts have warned that ‘substandard’ lithium ion batteries, used in e-bikes and e-scooters, could be leading to a rise in fires in people’s homes, as a family warned that a blaze had left them homeless.

Charity Electrical Safety First is calling for the batteries to be held to the same testing standards as laptops or electric vehicles, with better regulations and batter testing. More via LBC

London cabbies take kids from hospital to Disneyland

More than 200 children across England, who suffer from chronic or life limiting conditions, have been taken to Disneyland Paris by some of the capital’s black cab drivers.
