London’s Air Ambulance Charity announces new Lead Paramedic for Operations

London’s Air Ambulance Charity has announced the appointment of Jason Morris QAM as the new Lead Paramedic for Operations.

Jason brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. He joined London Ambulance Service (LAS) in 1999, where he progressed from emergency medical technician to paramedic, through to clinical team leader. In 2009, he completed his first secondment at London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

Throughout his years working with the charity, serving the 10 million who visit, live and work in London, Jason helped design the dispatch screens which filter calls to the paramedics working in the LAS Emergency Operations Centre. He was involved in the development of London’s Air Ambulance’s dispatch app, which enabled calls deemed suitable to be sent within moments to iPads held by the medical team and pilots, meaning tasking to an incident can happen within seconds.

“I’m so proud to be taking on this new position at an organisation that is very close to my heart. In the 16 years since my first secondment with London’s Air Ambulance Charity, I have seen firsthand the commitment across the team to continuous innovation and improvement in the service of our patients.

“Paramedics have been at the heart of the HEMS service throughout and I look forward to working alongside our clinical and aviation colleagues to ensure that we continue to operate a truly world-class service for trauma patients in London.”

This process has had a direct impact on reducing the time it takes the advanced trauma team to get to the patient’s side, bringing potentially life-saving procedures to the scene when there is not enough time to get to hospital.

In 2021, Jason was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, which marked the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the UK, and was awarded a Queen’s Ambulance Medal in recognition of distinguished service, of which only 12 are awarded each year across the country.
