The Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset, through the Southwest Police Procurement Service (SWPPS), has initiated early market engagement for the first phase of its ‘Electrification and Decarb Programme’.

The Prior Information Notice seeks input from suppliers that could support the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the Avon and Somerset region.

The basic technical specification includes:

  • Six 100 kW chargers
  • Four 50 kW chargers
  • Ten 7.4 kW chargers

Preference will be given to wall-mounted charge points with crash protection for durability and safety.

SWPPS invites potential suppliers to participate in shaping the forthcoming procurement by responding to the Notice. Submissions are due by 12 noon on Friday, 22 August 2025. Interested parties should contact Emma Griffin via email (emma.griffin@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk). SWPPS will respond with a series of questions requiring written answers, and may arrange a meeting to delve deeper into requirements.

The procurement is expected to span 22 September 2025 to 21 September 2026, and underscores Avon and Somerset Police’s commitment to advancing sustainability within its fleet operations.

This engagement represents a key milestone toward a greener, more efficient fleet. Prospective suppliers are encouraged to respond promptly and contribute to a cleaner future for emergency service operations in the region.
