Surrey Police has officially appointed Deputy Chief Constable (DCC) Mark McEwan, who takes up the appointment following outgoing DCC Nev Kemp.

Mark McEwan brings extensive experience in policing, with more than 26 years serving in the Police Service of Northern Ireland and the Metropolitan Police. Throughout his career, he has worked in a range of roles including community policing, counter-terrorism, investigations, human rights, equality and diversity, crime prevention, and change management. He has experience navigating highly politicised and challenging environments.

“I am excited to be joining Surrey Police. The force has a clear vision and direction set out in our plan and I look forward to working with colleagues to deliver it for the people of Surrey.”

DCC McEwan joins the senior leadership team as Surrey Police continues to focus on delivering its strategic priorities and serving the communities of the county.

Chief Constable Tim De Meyer welcomed his appointment, saying: “I am sure that colleagues across our Force will wish to join me in warmly welcoming DCC Mark McEwan to Surrey Police. Mark’s extensive experience of crime-fighting, community policing, operations and change management – gained in some of the most testing jobs in UK policing – will serve us and the people of Surrey very well in the challenge ahead.”
