Babcock has marked a major milestone in its partnership with London Fire Brigade (LFB) by supplying the service with its first fully electric large goods vehicles (eLGVs) making LFB the first fire service in the UK to use a fully electric fleet for training.
The two new electric lorries will replace their outgoing diesel counterparts which have been in service for more than two decades. The eLGVs are designed to transport vital firefighting equipment across the city.
As well as the eLGVs, Babcock has also replaced London Fire Brigade’s training car fleet with new EV variants. These will be used at the fire brigade’s training centres in Ruislip, Beckton and Croydon – reinforcing both organisations’ commitment to sustainability and innovation.
These latest rotations to EV variants are the latest iterations of the company working in partnership with the LFB to transition its vehicle fleet to green alternatives as part its fleet strategy.

The latest LSV vehicle features advanced telematics for real-time performance monitoring and energy efficiency, ensuring LFB can maintain high service standards while reducing environmental impact.
This delivery builds on Babcock’s long-standing fleet management partnership with LFB that has been in place since 2014, which includes electric pumping appliances and specialist vehicles for extreme weather conditions.
